Today we had a very enjoyable visit from Inland Fisheries Ireland. Speakers Declan and Noel accompanied all classes to the local river Aherlow. The purpose of the visit was to investigate water quality as well as the biodiversity of the river.
We were delighted to find that the water quality was very good. This is based on the amount of creatures and fish we discovered incl salmon, trout and eel as well as mayfly stonefly and loads of others.
The fish were very lively which is also a sign of good health.
We are very thankful to our 2 guests as well as local farmer Timmy Blackburn for facilitating the visit.
