We were delighted to welcome Ukrainian parents Pavel and Elena to school today as part of Catholic Schools Week. It was related to the CSW theme of Inclusion. (Walking together in love) This is something we are extremely passionate about here at Galbally NS in all areas of school life. They gave a most interesting talk to the children on life in Ukraine before the war. They spoke about the geography, traditions and culture of their homeland. Then they spoke about their shock and fears when war broke out and deciding to leave when it all got too much. Pavel spoke of the warm welcome they have received in Ireland and especially in Galbally. It was great to hear directly from people who have had first hand experience of this awful war. To date 4 families from Ukraine have joined our school community. They have settled really well and are a great addition to Galbally NS. We hope their time here will continue to be happy and safe.
