At Galbally National School we recognize the importance and the benefits of Music in our pupil’s lives. Music promotes self-confidence, a sense of belonging, teamwork. It helps develop language and reasoning. Music encourages creativity, calmness and improves memory and coordination.
Our aspiration in our school is that children may gain delight, enjoyment and satisfaction from music by becoming involved in it through listening, composing and performing from Junior Infants to sixth class
School Band:All pupils from 2nd to 6th class perform in our school band. Pupils are provided with an opportunity to learn a variety of instruments- tinwhistle, melodica, accordion, glockenspiel, cymbals, snare drum and bass drum. Each year our band performs at various events-eg Christmas concert, St Patrick’s day parade, Corpus Christi procession and also local events and festivals.
School choir/ concerts: Our pupils are provided with opportunities to sing for various events in our school and for events in their local community. Some examples of this would be Carol singing, Christmas concerts, Sacramental masses, Grandparent’s day and our annual Graduation mass.
