Our big book of stories Launched. 31 May 2012
We launched our book today. Thanks to all our guests for comming to this event and making it a special one for the children.
We decided to publish a book as part of our plan to continue improving literacy. It is an amazing book in that it has a contribution from each child in our school. Topics covered include my family, my pet, my friends, my hero, a special person, and someone I admire. It is a great oppertunity for the children to see their work published in a real book.
It has been a tremendous opportunity for the whole school to take part in this venture.  We had a great time working on it.  The children particularly enjoyed the opportunity for peer tutoring where the older children helped those in the younger classes to get their thoughts and ideas on paper.  As you read through the book you will see the progression and development as the chapters lead from one age group to the next.

Literacy is regarded as one of the most important skills taught in our schools.  The National Strategy announced by the Government emphasises this and the important roles that school teachers and parents play in fully developing these skills.  As you read through our book you will see how well integrated literacy is in all other subjects.  This is a key priority set out in the National Strategy.
