We took part in the Corpus Christii procession at the Saturday night mass .3rd to 6th class were in the band leading the parade and 2nd class performed a tableau with Canon Talbot.
Our girls played against Knocklong on 3rd June and had a narrow win over Knocklong NS.It was a close game and finished on the scoreline 2 goals to 1.
On Thursday 27th May the school hurling team had a great win against a very strong Ballyagran team. At half time it was 1-
First Holy Communion
On 8th May 13 boys and girls received their First Communion. It was a lovely day for all and they will have special memories of the day in the years to come.
Congratulations to Niall Kearney Jamie Morrissey and Ger Quinlan who represented Galbally NS on the South Limerick team which won the Mackey cup.This is one of the most prestigous competitions in Limerick GAA and we think it is the first time Mackey medals have come to Galbally.
Well done to Ger Quinlan and Grainne Blackburn who played for limerick in the Primary football game against Waterford on June 6th in Fraher field Dungarvan.
Also well done to Niall Kearney who played for in a Primary Hurling game before the Limerick -
On the 25th of March the Galbally girls football team played Ballylanders in the schools Final in Knocklong . The girls had a brilliant build up to the final winning all their previous matches but yesterday they had an unfortunate loss , but on the day Ballylanders proved the better team on the day.
On St Patricks day Galballys NS band won the prize for best marching band and second prize overall in the Tipperary Town Parade . Please go to Music page for pictures of this years parade.
2 Famous pupils.
Grainne Blackburn ran in The National Cross country competition in Roscommon and came 3rd. Patrick O Donoghue represented Aherlow in a Tipperary hurling skills competition and was successful in the U12 competition.He was presented with a medal at half time in the hurling league game between Tipperary and Kilkenny at Semple Stadium.These are definitely 2 names for the future.
Hospital TY Show.
On 4th March 2nd to 6th classes visited Hospital Secondary school where we saw their TY show namely Aladdin.It was very enjoyable and we watched out especially for the past pupils from Galbally who were taking part.
On 2nd March we played Bruree in our 1st game of the year.Galbally won on a scoreline of 2 -
On 2 February Denis Leamy visited the school and presented a Lions jersey which was signed by the Munster members of the squad.
On the 22nd of February our school had a visit from the McCormac family who put on a variety show for us . They showed us many instruments , many of them wind instuments . Acrobatics was also a big part of the show as well as lots of balancing and agility acts . During the show there was lots of audience participation. It engaged all classes and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it .
On evening of 22nd February we had a visit from the swine flu Doctors.Many children were vaccinated on the day.
Big Bazaar .
On Saturday 27 February a film crew spent from 10 o'clock until 5 filming both the school football team and the school band .The football team were filmed playing a practice match and later at a training session.The Band were filmed playing a selection of tunes and later were filmed at some of the village landmarks such as Moore Abbey.A 10 man filming crew arrived on Thursday 4th March for further footage of the children as they prepared for the bazaar.They booked rooms in Aherlow House and on Friday returned to the Community Centre to film the bazaar. It was held from 2 to 6.It was a tremendous experience for all concerned.And it raised a huge amount of money for the school.The boys team just edged it collecting €1528 while the girls collected €1380.-
On 25 January the 1st Daffodil appeared. We held a contest to see who would grow the first one and Jamie Morrissey won.
On 11th and 12th January we had two snow days. Most of Ireland was badly affected by what is known as the big freeze. It is supposed to be the coldest winter since 1963.
This year we held a Nativity Play in the church. 5th and 6th class acted out the story and all the other classes sung in the choir. It was held on the 21st of December
Inter active white boards
Galbally N.S. has received a grant to install an interactive whit boards in each classroom. This turns the whit boards at the top of the room into a computer screen. What ever one normal sees on the computer screen will now be transferred to the board. It makes learning more fun. The grant from the minister for education will cover most of the cost. The rest we will hope to collect with a music night.
Holy Communion 2010.
This year the date is the 8th of May the do this in memory programme starts for the communion class on Sunday 23 rd January with the enrolment mass.
Last year the 5th and 6th class pupils entered the Kilfinane Coshlea Heritage society essay competition . All of the pupils recieved medals. Alex Finnan recieved an individual prize for coming 2nd .
Remember table quiz in the Abbey Bar in aid of school funds will take place on friday the 6th of November at half 9.Table of four €20 .
South Schools Team
4 boys from Galbally NS were picked to play on the South Limerick schools team. Ger Quinlin, Niall Kearney, Jamie Morrisey and Jason Shannon.Three girls where also picked for the girls south Limerick schools team,Grainne Ryan, Emma Burke and Grainne Blackburn.
Galbally NS collected over 100 shoeboxs in the aid of the Operation Christmas Child fund .These will be brought out to the poorer countries of the third world .

Vaccinations................for Junior Infants ...............Monday 5th October.
Congratulations to the two under 10 school teams who took part in the harvest fair tournament in Anglesboro. Both teams won their groups and so we had the unusual situation of Galbally whites v Galbally blacks in the final with the whites narrowly winning.
A large crowd of parents and children took part in the sponsored walk to Darbeys Bed. Weatherwise it was one of the best days of the year and was enjoyed by all.
