Guided Reading.
This year we will continue to implement different strategies to further improve Literacy in our school. This is in line with the Governments National Strategy to give extra time to Literacy and Numeracy.
We have chosen Guided Reading as a strategy which we will introduce to different classes during the course of the year. Guided reading  helps students become better readers. The teacher together with other members of staff will provide support for small groups of readers as they learn to use various reading strategies .It will mean a team of 4 will take smaller  groups of 4 to 6 children for 4 sessions per week and will give that smaller group  more individual attention. We hope to implement this programme for term 1.

These are extra English classes and the main English class will still be carried out by the class teacher
